I am considering installing Linux on my computer. I have already Windows XP Professional installed and I would like to keep it in the case I do not like Linux. Is this a possible scenario? Can I make a Dual Boot system? I think I can and I just hope it is not too complicated. Can you explain to me how to make dual boot system?
Making Dual boot system with Windows and Linux is easy, especially if you have Windows already installed. First you should prepare partitions (you can do this during Linux installation but this way is safer) by using Partition Magic or some similar software. Create at least two partitions one for swap and another for root. After this start Linux installation and just follow installation procedure. At the end you will be asked if you want to write LILO or GRUB (Linux boot loaders) in MBR. You can choose yes and booting system will be easier. That would be all.
