When I open my Windows Explorer and start to work with it I experience real slow downs of performance. Before when I click on a network drive it was immediately opened but now I have to wait few second (5-6). Sometimes the whole Windows Explorer window freeze for about 30 seconds and I cant do anything. This started to happen a one week ago and I didnt have any similar problems before. Im using my office computer with Windows XP installed on it. Is there a easy way to make it work again? Please help
You are maybe experiencing icon problem with your XP. Are you experiencing icon lag? Do you also need to wait when you click on menu and you wait long time for you icons to load? Delete the IconCache.db file from your profile (/Documents and Settings/Username/Local Settings/Application Data). This is setting for most of the users, actually the one that didnt changed default windows settings.
Also when you have such slow downs of system you can always suspect on spyware or malware programs. These are the programs that sneaks into you system usually when youre on the internet. Search the Internet for a anti spyware programs, and run one that you decide to use. Do the full scan of your system even if it takes a little longer? You probably have a lot of malicious programs on your machine if you never used these programs before. Also do a virus check to make sure your machine is not infected with worms or trojan viruses.
