I downloaded Windows newest antispyware tool, Windows Defender Beta2 and find it interesting and not so bad in a work that it does. Now, what I am curious about is how good Microsoft spyware definitions are comparing others? Do those people really have enough time to bather with spyware analyses with all that programming work?

It is an interesting issue. I read at Microsoft’s Defender page that they have a team of researchers that is dedicated to Internet search in order to discover new spyware. And it is something about voluntary worldwide network of Defender users that help in determination of suspicious programs. On the other hand, at some other site’s review I found information about SpyNet community of computer users who share information about spyware with one another and maintain an updated list of spyware and adaware signatures. This site claims that Microsoft relies on SpyNet to retrieve latest spyware definitions. Maybe this is the same group, and maybe not, but anyway it sounds as a solid base to support their program.
