I can't connect from one client on the LAN, but the others work fine. I assume that drops router settings from the list of suspects? Now, sometimes I do manage to connect but only some programs work – AIM and Opera, but not IE, ICQ, or any P2P client I've tried. If someone could enlighten me as to what's going on here, I'd appreciate it. TIA.

What exactly happens when the client fails to connect? What message do you get? As for the partial effectiveness of the connection (some things work, some don't), that IMO suggests either firewall (but I expect you checked that) or malware of some sort. Scan your system for malware online, and if something is detected, follow the links offered by the scan to get a reliable anti-spyware utility to clean the hard drive.
