I am somewhat of hobbyist system administrator and I am trying to administer Windows 2000 server on small local area network. I have set Auto backup option for server to start every Saturday at 5PM. When I got to work this Monday I noticed that Auto backup service had a failure and that it was unable to complete. I tried to run it manually but with the same effect. Do you know what is wrong here?

This might have some connection with Active directory settings, but I am not sure if you are using Active Directory at all. Try to troubleshoot this issue with good old trial and error procedure. Try to remember have you changed any settings on server after last successful Auto Backup procedure and you will find what is guilty for such behavior. I wish you luck with this one.
