I used this software for some time ago. Before I didnt noticed any problems till one day I had to unrar few of my archive on another computer. This computer didnt have WinZip installed so I tried to use the one they had but didnt work. I thought that problem is with that other program and went home peaceful. But when this started to happen more often I started to suspect. Can somebody help me and give me advice on this.

Yes it is, WinZip is one of the worst archive software I used to. It is not compatible with other zippers and works great just with winzip files. They are having improved versions these days that can compress more and blabla, but still no compatibility thought.
These days you have a wide variety of quality archiving software. I could recommend some like WinRar,7 ZIP (FREE), PowerArchiver etc. Good thing about them is that they are all compatible and if you for example compress file with 7zip you can unzip it with winrar. Also 7zip has very high compression rate especially when you using to rar file with it.
Dont get confused with all this extensions and names. Zip and Rar are most common but there are others. Important thing is that these programs can read most of them. Rar I known to have a better compression generally then zip. Choice is yours but whatever you choose you wont be wrong.
Regards.
