| I bought a computer six months ago. However, I recently realized that my cd rw drive doesn't satisfy my needs. That is why, yesterday, I bought new SATA DVD RW. However, when I plug it in my computer my Windows could not see it. Why is DVD RW not recognized? |

| Just to be sure, check first did you connect all the cables (signal and power) well on both end. If that is not the problem, try to reconnect your SATA DVD to another SATA connector on your motherboard. Also check, do your motherboard support your type of SATA device. I mean that your device may be SATA2 and your motherboard may support only SATA1 devices. If you find out that, the only thing you could do is to try to replace your SATA device for some with SATA1 standard. One more thing you should do is to check is your motherboard SATA support enabled in your BIOS. Maybe your motherboard needs some special drivers to be installed for full SATA support. If nothing of this helps, I think that your DVD RW is probably broken. |
