| I am thinking about trying Linux. Ive tried to decide which distribution to use but there are so many of them and everyone is saying that the best distribution is one he uses. I dont have any specific demands. You know, write a few documents, use a spreadsheet, surf, write mails and watch some movies. That said, I am not interested in administering system or learning a lot about configuring Linux. Is there an appropriate distribution for me? |

| Unfortunately, you will not be able to escape learning something about Linux and its configuration. There are few very newbie friendly distros out there, but I can not guarantee you that everything will work out of box. There is a big chance that you will have to configure some hardware (especially if you have a TV card or a soft modem) or to download some codecs. But dont worry it is not too hard. You could try PCLinuxOS, Ubuntu or Mint. I think they are most user friendly distros which will do all the things you need. |
