Hello, all.
I'm a longtime Windows user tentatively looking to make the switch to Linux – a gradual one, of course. I know there are many different versions floating around, and that they're not just updated copies of previous ones (chronologically speaking)… but I don't know much more than that, to be honest.
So, which distribution (is that the right word?) would you guys recommend for a complete beginner?
Thanks. |

| Well, the popular opinion is that SUSE is quite a decent beginner's distribution, and the same is said of Mandriva as well. I wouldn't recommend Ubuntu to start with, though. Me, I started off with Fedora Core 4, and it wasn't too hard to pick up. But you can get more detailed info elsewhere, such as at distrowatch.com, for example. |
