It's like I said, when I'm burning a DVD, the buffer only goes up to 5%, dropping slightly om occasion, but never going over five. I have no idea what's causing this to happen, but at least I know that the drive's not the cause: I had the exact same situation with my old R/W drive. Anyone have any suggestions?

Weird. It could be a DMA speed thing, I don't know… One thing you should do to check that would be to see if your DVD R/W drive and your HD drive are on the same IDE channel, and if they are, to separate them. It's a shot in the dark, I know…
