| I have an AthlonXP Barton 2600+ based system, with 512 MB of RAM. This is the machine I used for entertainment mostly, but now I want to use it with video editing software. I’d like to make it a bit faster, so what do you suggest – what to upgrade first – cpu or memory? What is the difference in performance if I upgrade one or another? |

| Your CPU is maybe the fastest (among the fastest ones, for sure) in that CPU generation, so there’s no use of upgrading it. If you have spare memory slots, use them to upgrade memory, you’ll see the difference for sure. With more memory, the system won’t access hard disk so much and thus all operations (particularly those regarding big files) will be performed faster. |
