Hi there. I have finally decided to upgrade from Windows 98SE to Windows XP Professional. I know that I have an option to just upgrade or to make clean install of the new operating system. Upgrading seems easier to me but I do not know what option is better. I hope you will tell me what's better: upgrade or new installation.

Hello. New installation is always better then upgrade. While upgrading all settings remain and all installed programs. Updating drivers is also attempted. All of this is error prone because some settings might be incompatible with new operating system. So it is definitely better to format hard drive as NTFS file system (it is a lot better then FAT32) and perform a clean install.
