| Whenever you are in doubt, you should choose the bigger number in the product type. I am kidding but that is completely true in this case. SATA 1 drives have overage speed of 150 Kb/s (kilobytes per second) and SATA 2 drives have two times bigger overage speed - 300 Kb/s. However, when you decide about your new hard drive you should first check what type of drive your motherboard supports. If it does not support SATA 2 standard you could not install a SATA 2 hard drive. The connector is the same but it simply wouldn't work. Because your computer is two years old, there is also a possibility that it supports only IDE standard (100 Kb/s). Therefore, if you persist in installing SATA drive on your machine maybe you should first change a motherboard. |
