What is an XP 1606 error?

Hello. I have finally decided to upgrade from Windows 98 Second Edition to Windows XP Professional. Unfortunately, I have run into problems immediately. When I try to install program on Windows XP I receive following error message: "Error 1606. Could not access network location…". What is an XP 1606 error? Thank you in advance for your response.

This error occurs only when you upgrade from Windows 98 Second Edition or Windows Millennium to Windows XP. Also, this 1606 error can be caused by Norton AntiVirus 2003. Fixing this problem involves registry editing so I will advise you to visit article 315352 in Windows Knowledge Base and see detailed instructions for fixing this issue.
