Hello. I have just recently got broadband internet access and I would like to try some file sharing program. I have heard a lot of stories about Bit torrent, but I do not know anything about it. Can you explain to me what is Bit torrent and how Bit torrent works. Thank you in advance.

Hello there. Bit torrent is peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing protocol. Basic idea behind this protocol is to reduce load, bandwidth and costs of initial seeder. The point is that initial seeder sends file only once and then this file is shared between other peers in the swarm. That can significantly improve downloading speeds, especially if there are many downloaders.
