Just out of curiosity, can you tell me please what default gateway is? I have seen this term mentioned in several occasions in some articles that are describing networks and process of connecting to internet. I am not too good with computers, so I did not understand much of it. I would really appreciate if you could explain this to me in few words.

Default gateway is another computer or some other device like router through which your computer connects to internet or to some other part of large network. Computer (or another device) that acts like default gateway usually have some other purposes like routing network traffic, giving IP addresses through DHCP server or acting as a firewall to computers behind it.
