| AGP or Accelerated Graphic Port is card expansion port, which ruled the world of graphic cards for the last decade. Before that, it was Vesa Local Bus for a short period, and before that, PCI rules supremely. First AGP in personal computers come with Pentium 2 computers. It was AGP 2x. Lately, comes AGP 4x and AGP 8x. It was a first standard which aloud hardware acceleration, which had great implementation in computer games. However, few years ago, new standard comes on scene. Graphic card expansion slot that exist today is PCI express. That standard has a big advantage. PCI express card can use the computer memory along with its own memory. Today, you cannot buy any new motherboard with an AGP slot. |
