| I have a small home network with internet access provided through a Westel Wire Speed modem. The modem is then plugged into a Netgear FVS 318 Router Firewall which serves as the gateway for the three desktop computers (Win XP) on the network. However, this setup doesn't seem to work any more, ever since the Netgear went dead and was replaced by a working one. I'm pretty sure it's the router/firewall that's preventing the network from accessing the internet, because the modem used to work perfectly. Could someone help me troubleshoot this, please? |

Not without hearing more info on your network setup. Can the XP machines see each other on the network, or is that not functioning either (in addition to the net access)? What happens when you try to access the internet?
Are there software firewalls running on the XP machines? They might be interfering with the new Netgear router's default configuration.
Also, what's the model number for that Westel modem? Some need to be configured to work in bridge mode in setups like the one you describe (if I'm reading it right).
