I tried to replace my old and faulty 8 GB hard disk drive with a brand new WD2500JS SATA drive, but I'm having difficulties. When I put in the Windows XP install CD and try to install the OS, I get only a message saying that setup "did not detect any hard disk drives installed" on my system. Is there something I'm missing here?

Apparently, there is. Windows XP does not recognize SATA drives by itself, it neds the right drivers to do this. These drivers may have come with your drive, or possibly with yout motherboard (on a CD in either case). If not, you should be able to download them from the web and burn them to CD. Then, before trying to install XP, slide in the driver CD, and use it to format and partition the SATA drive. After that the XP installation should work normally.
