I guess you just do not have right codec pack installed. It happens more often than we think, you know? Sometimes, you can even install proper codec, but than again, something happens and creates trouble. For example, when I was a beginner, I used to install all sorts of codec packs, and it was a mess. Nothing would function, no matter how hard I would try. So, I would suggest you to check your codec too. If I were you I would uninstall every codec I have installed on my PC, and Windows Media Player, and than install some newer version of lets say K Lite codec pack. It should work.
