I have been having a computer for several months and I haven't got any problems until recently. Two days ago I have received a warning of a virus in my system called W32.Zotob.A. I think I managed to delete it, but I would like to know more about it and whether it could have done some damage before I removed it from my system. Thanks for the info.

It is always an unfortunate thing when your computer gets infected. However, you are relatively fortunate that this virus, actually a worm, is not overly dangerous. On most Windows systems, it cannot be executed from a distance (say, over the Internet), but only from your computer (say, through an infected program you install from a diskette or a CD). However, the former possibility is present in Windows 2000. The worm tries to spread on a security problem that occurs in Windows. You can see more about it at http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/security/Content/
14513.html. However, it is not too common and invasive, so if you got rid of it as soon as you got the notification, there should be no problem.
