Hello. I downloaded Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 from Microsoft, and I tried installing it, but I'm having trouble. It reports an error code x800706F8, and goes on to say "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation." The same thing happens when I retry.
I never did this kind of thing before, so I guess I might be doing something horribly wrong, or missing something obvious. Am I? Thanks for any help you can give.

Are you trying to do a clean install, or are you installing over Win XP? If it's the former, try the latter, and vice versa. If the problem persists, double check the white lists to make sure you don't have hardware incompatibility issues – if you do, my money would be on your graphics, but that's just a hunch.
