| I have done a clean install of Vista RC1 but it wont boot without DVD in drive. This is strange, right? I have made a partition for Vista before I installed it, my computer exceeds minimum requirements, I do not have any exotic hardware and have two hard drives. When I try to boot without DVD drive inserted I receive error saying something about missing boot manager. What should I do? |

| Vista (as all other newer Microsoft operating systems) can be installed on any partition but it places boot manager on C partition. If your C partition (or what Vista sees as C) is not accessible (disconnected drive, some other operating system e.g. Linux) then boot manager will be inaccessible and it would require DVD to run it and start Vista. You should boot from DVD, enter recovery console and fix this issue with bootsec.exe utility. |
