|
|
| Hi, my computer has been downloading things from the Internet automatically once I connect to the Internet. I scanned my computer but no virus or worm was detected? Does anybody know the cause of why this may happen? Is it a virus attack or some program that went wrong? Please help, urgent! Thanks!! |

Firewall, like Zone Alarm is good solution to prevent sending emails from your PC.
Try to install it. It's free and can be found here:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_zonealarm_free/
Also, install the newest version of Spybot Search & Destroy, because it has resident scanner and informs you about any change made in Registry.
Also, replace all suspicious processes manually, but don't remove anything if you're not sure, because your system might not work properly.
First check in Task Manager if there are any suspicious processes running currently.
Then go to Start>>Run>>type msconfig
You'll open System Configuration Utility. Click on Startup, then uncheck all suspicious processes (including those found in Task Manager), like those of unknown source, strange EXE files, etc.
You'll have to reboot your PC.
Optionally, you can stop suspicious or unknown processes in Services. Remember, Do Not stop vital processes!
Additionally, you can check Windows folder and System32 folder too.
Sort the files by Modified (View > Arrange Icons By > Modified).
Check if there are newly created Folders, Files, etc.
If you found suspicious files, try to delete them, but only in the Recycle Bin.
Restart PC couple of times and use it for a while to see if everything works without deleted files.
Then you can remove them permanently.
*Note: It's not recommended to remove any files from System32 folder if you're not expert or if you're not sure what vital processes are.
Removing them can cause a malfunction.
Additionaly, you can perform HijackThis scan and post a log to an expert. |
