| Lately I've been getting these virtual memory warnings when in the middle of a game. They say something like "low on virtual memory", and "windows is trying to fix it", and sometimes also that I should free up more space on my hard drives (which I did, but nothing). This has been happening in several different games. Is this a serious problem? |

| Simply put, virtual memory is a section of hard disc that's left apart for RAM-like use (as in, frequent access). Some applications need a lot of it, some need less. You have the option of letting Windows handling its size, adjusting as necessary (which it seems you're currently doing), or specifying its size manually. To do that, go to the control panel, choose system properties, click the advanced tab, then settings under performance, then advanced again, and down near the bottom of the page, you should see the virual memory settings. |
