We will be setting up a network at the office soon and we need some help with it. The server will be running WinXP Pro and there’ll be three machines connected to it via draytek ADSL/VPN router. Our ISP doesn’t allow us static IP address. The question is, will we be able to connect to VPN from home trough ADSL connection if we don’t have the static IP address? Since I have never used WinXP Pro before, some additional info on how it functions would also be of help. Thanks a lot in advance for any information on this!
You didn’t give us the exact model of the router you’ll be using so I cannot give you the exact answer. If that router supports client VPN tunnels, you’ll get some kind of client VPN software that you’ll need to install on remote machines. The router itself will be establishing the tunnel and allow you to access the internal network. And you won’t need to configure the server to run VPN since the router should also do it itself. I hope that this answers your question.
