Hi. I am planning to make a backup of important data I have on my hard drive. Because I have external HDD I was thinking to use it for backing up purposes. However I have heard that external hard drives are not very reliable and I do not want to lose my data. What is your opinion about this?

Hello. You have heard well. External hard drives are not reliable back up solution and you can use them on your own risk. Instead of external HDD you can use DVD for back up. Make two copies just to be sure if something happens. I hope this answer helped you a little bit.
