| I can't get it to install no matter what. It starts of OK, then locks up while partitioning, and nothing I do has any effect, short of flipping the power switch. It's not a CD issue, I burned 2 different copies and the same thing happens at exactly the same spot. I've never installed any Linux before, so is there something essential that I should know that could be causing this? |

| Not that I know of, no. This sounds very much like a hardware issue, and not a directly Ubuntu-related one. I'd check the IDE cables first… Did you have any problems with the PSU before? If so, that would make it a suspect, too. Also, if you have more than one optical drive, could be worth trying to install from the second one. But these are just shots in the dark, really… |
