I brought some photos from a friend’s PC to my home on his 512 MB Sony storage device. When I plugged it into my machine it opened up a folder and I managed to copy the files but then it turned out that it had labeled itself D:. The problem is that my DVD RW drive was D: and now its disappeared from My Computer tree. I checked the device manager and it says that the drivers for the DVD are corrupt. Unplugging the USB device didn’t help. What should I do now?

The first thing that came to my mind is that you should reinstall the drivers from Windows CD but then I remembered that you cannot use your DVD drive at all. Then the only option I see for you is to borrow someone else’s CD/DVD drive and do the same thing. Other than that, you might try reinstalling Windows from BIOS if DVD drives there aren’t corrupt. I hope you manage to solve this.
