I need some information about networking. Can somebody tell me how will Windows XP behave when there are two gateways on one NIC? I gave two gateways defined with equal metric on the same LAN connection. I think there would be some kind of load balancing, but I could not find anything in the documentation.

You cannot find that information in the documentation unless it is a highly professional documentation. You think wrong, there would not be load balancing. Two default gateways usually tend to confuse things on the network. You should do a "route print" from the command line if you want that one will be listed below the other if. As long as the lower gateway in the list is available, that one that will be used. Some people claims that the second gateway will behave as an alternate. I have to disagree because by my experience it will just hang if the first gateway is not available. It is absolutely normal because there is a warning message when you attempt to add the second gateway via the network properties page.
