I don't know what's wrong, but my laptop shuts down on its own every 10 minutes or so. I suspected overheating at first, but I checked the temperatures and they are all within acceptable ranges. Also, my BIOS is now up to date, but that doesn't change a thing. Anything else I can try?

I seem to remember people with Toshibas constantly complaining about unusual auto shut down problems. This may be a faulty product line of some sort, check the site. Regarding potential solutions, this one is fairly obvious, but just in case you haven't tried it yet – check the power saving settings under Display Properties (if you're on Windows). Maybe the hibernation time is set to 10 minutes… I know, that's highly unlikely, but check anyway.

Hey , Found out here at United Airlines electrical department that the Toshiba Laptop power supply can get damaged if you drop the unit.
Saw the corners ( about 1/2 inch from the corners), with a jewelers saw ( careful not too deep now), to break the glue and pry with a sharp putty knife opening up the unit you might find that the toroidial transformer has broken away from the circuit board.
Easy solder fix !!!!!!! swaved me 80 dollars !!!! |
