| I have an almost new Toshiba Sat laptop, and it's mostly working OK, it's just that its DVD RW drive is behaving oddly. It seems to be rejecting all CD R and CD RW media that I try to use, and yet it goes on reading DVDs perfectly! If it's malfunctioning, shouldn't it be unable to read any media? |

| Well no, not really. Lots of optical drives start failing like that, first refusing to read one type of media usually rewritable, though sometimes any CD (in case of DVD drives). Inevitably, they give up on all types, and just stop working altogether. At this point, you should just clean the lens manually and hope for the best. |
