Hi there. I have brought some old Toshiba satellite Notebook at my home, which can’t boot. All I can see on the screen after power on is option to press the F2 for setup or the C key to boot from CD rom. I tried with the windows XP CD, but it seems like it won’t do anything there. Oh, there are also some messages about Realtek and it’s PXE Rom. This means nothing to me, because I really am not so experienced in all of this. Some help should really welcome. Thanks in advance.

Make sure that you have bootable windows XP CD. Because there are versions that won’t work without floppy disk drive first. By the way those messages regarding Realtek are showing that your notebook was part of some home based network earlier. Anyway, you can try to set the notebook to boot from the hard drive. Hot the F2 key when prompted. And select C as primary device for boot. Tried that?
