When I try to use system restore, it looks like it's working, but then it stops and says it was unable to complete. Just that, no other information whatsoever. I checked out the help files, but that didn't help. In the meantime, I resolved the original problem that had me trying to do a SR, but SR itself still doesn't work, and I'd like it to. Any ideas?

You'll probably need to repair the system restore service. Go to the /windows/inf/ folder, and find a file called 'sr.inf'. Right-click it, and choose install. Windows should now prompt you for the XP installation CD, which you should provide, so that it can perfom the repairs. Here's a link that explains this process in greater detail: http://stogo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=118615#8
