I got a PC at my workplace last month. They also installed me DSL Internet connection. A friend installed me a program called BitTorrent. He told me that it is great for movie download. It worked great until yesterday. Now, whenever I start my computer I have network activity. A same friend told me to install Sygate Firewall on my network. Can anybody share any experience?

From the symptoms you told, I am almost certain that you have some sort of virus on your computer. I think that is a virus from category of Downloader or Trojan. Its job is to gain access to your machine to his owner. That is an often problem for all Torrent users. I had to reinstall my computer few times from the beginning because of torrent using. Last month I found out cure for that problem. That cure is combination of AVG and Sygate firewall. Therefore, your friend is right, but not completely. First, use AVG to clean your computer from viruses. After that, install Seagate to stop further infections.
