I got a PC at my workplace last month. They also installed me an ADSL Internet connection. A friend installed me a program BitTorrent. He told me that it is great for downloading movies from the Internet. It worked great until yesterday. Now, whenever I start my computer I have a suspicious network activity and my internet connection rapidly slow.

From your symptoms, I could most certainly tell that you have some sort of virus on your computer. To be more precise I think that is a virus from category of Downloader or Trojan. Its job is to gain access to your machine to his owner. That is the common problem for Torrent user. I had to reinstall my computer two times because of torrent using. However, at last I found out a cure for that. That cure is combination of AVG and Seagate firewall. First, use AVG from your Safe mode to clean your computer. After that install Seagate and that would reduce your problem to minimum.
