Strange symbols instead of words in Word 2003

Hello! I am running Windows XP SP2 operating system and I use Microsoft Office 2003 application. I have a problem with Microsoft Office Word 2003. When I try to type something in this application, I am getting strange symbols instead of words. I am beginner and, maybe, I did something to Word. I hope that you will be able to advice me.

Hello! I think that I know what your problem is. Namely in Word you have option for changing font. If you slow passing buy Toolbar you will see Font. Click on arrow for drop down menu and choose Arial or new Times Roman font. When you do that and when you type something you will see that you will have words instead of symbols. I assume that you are using now Webdings or Marlett or some similar font.
