| Hey there. I took an old PC from a friend of mine, who never uses it anymore. It is an old configuration, with Windows 98 installed, and it has a small HDD. Now I am trying to somehow clear up the space…And I was looking under C and I saw many strange system files. Do I need them all? Can I erase some of them? |

| LOL!!! You will not get anywhere if you try to enlarge your HDD by erasing system files you will end up having no system at all. What you should erase are unnecessary applications, and files. So, instead of deleting autoexec.bat or Bootlog.txt or something like that, go to control panel and remove unnecessary programs. This is what I would do , for start. If you need more space, afterwards, erase some files you do not need, such as audio or video files or something similar. You may also try out system mechanics. It will help you remove unnecessary and duplicate files, but be very careful when you use it. |
