I’ve made a network with the two PC’s I own – the new one I just bought is running Win XP and the old one is a Win 98 machine. I managed to get them both to work properly – I was able to access documents from WinXP machine to Win 98 one and vice versa. But then I went away for a few days and when I returned the only thing that was OK when it comes to network is internet sharing. File sharing was completely out and I couldn’t to it either way. Somehow I managed to get my new PC to see the old one but I cannot do it other way. What do you think is the problem and how should I fix it? Many thanks!

I don’t know what could have caused such a problem but I can think of one thing right now that might be wrong with your network. Win XP does not allow access to other PCs if they do not have the password setup. I’ve heard it a lot of times that people are complaining how their network isn’t working and they are being asked for password. You just need to create a logon and pass and then sharing should work both ways. If this is not helping maybe the XP’s firewall is the problem so you should also try disabling it.
