| Hello. I was bored few days a go, so I decided to sniff around my win 2000. I entered inside root folder and saw strange link or shortcut with very strange and long name. The shortcut has a Biohazard Icon. I think that it is a sign of some hack attack. What do you people think? I really cant remember is that link created by me, but I dont think so. I always put shortcuts to desktop. |

| There is one shortcut alike one you have described but it is under program files and its name is DirectX diagnostic tool. Now, strange links or shortcuts inside the root directory is not a good sign. My advice to you is to check your system with antispyware or similiar program, as soon as possible. God knows what are you doing else with your computer when you got bored somehow. If you dont use internet connection a lot, than the source of intrusion could be resulted from ordinary CD with a lot of free programs on it. |
