| I bought a computer five months ago. However, I recently realized that my hard is too small and that I need some extra space. For that reason yesterday I bought new SATA drive. However, when I plug it in my computer, my new sata drive was not recognized and I always get stop errors after new hardware install. What is the problem? |

| First, check did you connect all the cables well on both end. I mean on both, signal and power, cables. If that is not the problem, try to reconnect your SATA hard drive to another SATA connector if you have any. Also check, does your motherboard supports your type of SATA hard drive. I mean that your hard drive may be SATA2 and your motherboard may support only SATA1 hard drives. If that is the problem, the only thing you could do is to replace your SATA hard drive for some with SATA1 standard. One more thing you should do is to check is your motherboard SATA support enabled in your BIOS. At last, check does your motherboard needs some special drivers to be installed for SATA support. |
