I need some help with sound card replacement. I downloaded the driver for a new sound card from the manufacturer site. I have Microsoft Windows XP installed on my computer for a long time and everything works fine. When I try to open downloaded file and install it I get an error message. After that, my new sound card cuts sound. I do not know what is wrong.

There are several possible reasons that could cause your problem. First, it could be an error in the process of downloading and your driver might be damaged. You should try to download it again and than try to reinstall it. In addition, you might not have a proper version of operating system installed on your computer. Maybe your drivers are for some other operating system like Windows 98 or Vista. In that case, you have to find and download a right version for your OS. You also might have a problem that your driver may need some service pack or special add-ons. That way you should inform on manufacturer site what are those things, download and install them.
