I'm trying to set up a small network consisting of four different desktop computers, each of them running Windows XP. I've never done this before (though I've had some second-hand experience), so I'd appreciate some assistance.
The way I've got it at the moment is all four computers are sharing the same DSL connection through a Linksys Ethernet router, and that works OK. However, it seems the same setup isn't working for file access or printer sharing. I've got them all on the same workgroup (I think) but they don't seem to be able to see each other. Any idea where I'm going wrong with this?

One thing people often forget in setups like this is that they need to disable the software firewall they've got running by default in some XP installations. You can check if this is the case with you in TCP/IP Properties of your connection, under Advanced.
