| Hello. I have established my first hand made network at my home, all by my self. I am so proud of it. But, when I compare my home networking speed with other ones I saw so far, I think that my work could be better. It is so damn slow! I have plugged all cables properly, I have created a workgroup and assigned different name to each computer. What else should I do? Thanks. |

| Well, I have noticed that you havent assigned any of IP addresses, right? This is very important, because without IP address the computer searches for a neighbour address and finds the one assigned by the DHCP. This is probably slowing down your network, so why dont you try to assign your IP addresses? The IP should be 10.0.1.10 for one computer. For the other one should be 10.0.1.20 if you add one or two more, than just change the last two digits to 30, 40, 50 etc. Subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0. |
