| Greetings, I come with problem! I have started using the Broadband connection. And comparing to dial up system I had before I thought that suppose to bring some higher speed. Somehow pages on the internet are opening really slow, very often I get even not available message, and after many tries I manage to get what I want. Question is why is my broadband connection that slow? Is it some way that I can speed it up somehow or something. Please help, losing my mind with this snail one. |

| Hi! Keep your mind straight you will need it in future time. Slow broadband problem and its poor performance are usually attached to the question of how many people are sharing connection with you, browser settings or variable speed of the service. I know having lame Internet connection can be frustrating but first you must find where to look for a problem. Let the browser settings be our first guess. In case you just switched from dial up to broadband, there is possibility that your computer didn’t register that change, meaning you haven’t change them for broadband. That suppose to be done with installation of new modem but sometimes they get missed. Everything on your PC need to get proper command ,order or settings to work properly, so you must tell IE that now it doesn’t need to dial connection when you need and want to use it ( Tools menu / Internet options tab / Connections , click Never dial a connection and then OK/. So now after rebooting the computer IE automatically loads the home page. Second guess is capping. I am hoping that you didn’t sign for limiting service and went for a flat one instead ( meaning unlimited download). In case you are having limited one then could be that your network provider is lower your speed “cause you already passed the download limit. You should be noticed by ISP with an email if that is the case. My suggestion, switch the service. Third guess is contention ratio which means that sometimes you have problem approaching to some sites having that failure messages and connection real slow, usually during the night or weekends, and all that is caused by the number of people that in that moment are using your broadband. Usually ISP provide a contention ratio 20:1 a good one, or 50:1 normal one but some of them go for higher figures. If your connection is pretty often having those variable moments contact your ISP and get some information about this one. Maybe you should as backup keep the old dial up modem, having more options is never the bad thing. |
