I have a problem with simple home network. It is not working. I had one desktop computer directly connected to cable modem and everything worked fine. Then I purchased laptop and wireless router to make a home network. Desktop computer can still access internet but laptop can not gain internet access nor can see second computer in network. Do you have any suggestions?

I guess that you are using wireless connection to connect laptop to router. So, you will have to check wireless settings on router. Check if it is broadcasting signal at all, check network name and see if you have that network as a default on your laptop. Finally, check MAC address filter list and see if laptop MAC address is added to allowed addresses.
