Hi people! It seems to me that my WinXP shuts down much slower than my Win98 used to. And it’s getting on my nerves. I’ve heard that you can make it shut down faster but I don’t know how it’s done. Does anyone here knows about this? I hope that someone here will be willing to help me with this.

I suppose that you haven’t disabled the ‘Exit Windows’ sound yet and that’s why your Win XP shuts down slowly. You can do this in Control Panel. Choose “Sound, Speech and Audio devices”, then “Sounds and Audio Devices” and finally “Sounds”. Here you can click on “Exit Windows” sub-menu and you should select ‘none’ in the sound section. I suppose this is what you’re looking for.
