Hey there! I just bought a Linksys Cable/DSL NR041 router. I’ve plugged it into my modem and the internet connection is fine but I don’t know how to set it up so that I can share documents and printer between the two computers I have at home. The new computer I bought about a month ago is running WinXP and the other is running Win98. I read an article somewhere that helped me a bit and now I know how to make the XP machine see Win98 machine’s document but I’m unable to set it to work the other way. Could I get some help with this please? How should I set my router so that I can access my Win XP machine’s documents from my old PC? Thanks!

What you’re experiencing is a common problem and doesn’t have much to do with the router you’re using. It happens since Windows 98 doesn’t function as Windows XP when it comes to networking security. When you're using Windows 98 and you’re trying to access a Windows XP machine the problems you’re encountering are caused by user right restrictions. To avoid this you need to setup ‘user permissions’. I think you’ll be able to find a lot of info on this on Microsoft’s site since many people have the same problem.
