Before checking if everything is OK with you, you should check you ISP and see if they have stable signal in your area. Sometime ago before I changed my ISP I had similar problem, and I figured that was their problem. I had problems with disconnecting all the time and sometimes dont receiving packets just like you. See with you neighbors maybe they are having the same problem so you can bee sure that its not you to blame.
If you suspect that you have a problem with computer, you can check out next things:
- If youre using firewall check the settings, maybe you didnt opened your incoming connections.
- Check the wires that connect to your computer also check the splitters. Best way to do this is to replace them with new or used one that work for sure. Also check maybe some of the cables got unplugged a little.
- If you have Network card on your motherboard try to connect try LAN cable, and forget USB cause its known for making problems.
- Sometimes light on your modem can tell you what is wrong, and where is the failure in connection. For example if a computer light is down, maybe you have a bad driver for usb or bad cable.
