Save to ISO using Nero

I am a new user of a computer. My parents both me one last month. I finished a couple of courses about using a computer and some of them were for experienced users. I got interested in that matter and now I want to get some more information. I want to download some programs. However, I do not know should I choose ISO or exe files for download. A friend told me that I could deal with ISO file if I have Nero.

ISO file is image or duplicate of complete CD or DVD disks. When you want to store some CD or DVD to a hard disk of your machine, and burn it lately, you would create an image of that disk in ISO format. Many programs can help you to store your disk in ISO format. The most popular is definitely Nero Burning Rom. The other use for ISO files is in gaming purposes. ISO file could behave as a real virtual drive if you have programs like Virtual drive or Alcohol. Exe file should be self-extracting exe file. When you start that file, it should automatically start the program installation. I hope that this information helped you.
